Katowice Airport Builds Hangar H4
Construction of fourth aircraft maintenance hangar begins
Near the end of February 2025, The Upper Silesian Aviation Group (Górnośląskie Towarzystwo Lotnicze S.A. - GTL S.A.) - the company managing Katowice Airport - signed an agreement with PROMUS Ruda Śląska sp. z o.o. for construction works related to the fourth aircraft maintenance hangar. The investment will take 12 months and conclude in Q1 2026. The building will be leased by Wizz Air.
New, fourth hangar at Katowice Airport will cover 11.2K sq m of usable area, while its cubic area will amount to 121.2K cubic metres. Two bays allowing to simultaneously handle C-Code aircraft (e.g. Airbus A320/Boeing 737) will be the heart of the building. Hangar H4 will have a three-storey support area, which will be divided into office-social and training areas. Additionally, the building will have dedicated workshop rooms, including a grindery and paint shop. Hangar H4 will be 17.5 metres high and have a 88 metres long gate. Hangar H4 will abut hangar H3 to the west, and the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency ATC tower to the east.
After completion of construction of hangar H4, the usable area of all buildings in the MRO area (Maintenance, Repair, Operations) at Katowice Airport will increase to 34.4K sq m. Upon putting the new building into service, there will be four hangars and eight bays allowing to perform complex maintenance of C-Code aircraft (e.g. Airbus A320/Boeing 737).
